Job Description:

A global automotive parts manufacturing company in the southern Ann Arbor, Michigan area is now looking for a motivated Design Engineer to work onsite at their customer facility. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years' work experience in the development of automotive electrical components and systems, and the ability to interface effectively with customers and suppliers. This is a full-time, direct hire position.

Design Engineer Responsibilities Include:

Design and product development of automotive electrical components, particularly wire harnesses and connector components, electrical routing, circuitry, etc.
Work onsite at customer facility; act as a representative and interface with customers regarding their needs, product design and design reviews, manufacturing feasibility, etc.
Develop and maintain engineering drawings, schematics, and Bill of Materials
Ensure that product designs are meeting customer, industry, and governmental standards
Create records of design changes and project updates for internal and customer use
Other duties as assigned



Design Engineer Requirements Include:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
Minimum 1-3 years' experience (including internships, co-ops, etc.) in Design, Product, or Release Engineering required; specific experience in the design and development of automotive wiring components (harnesses, connectors, etc.) and / or power distribution systems is strongly preferred
Professional experience using CATIA V5 and / or Unigraphics NX design programs required
Ability to read, interpret, and improve engineering drawings and schematics
Strong communication and collaboration ability in a multicultural environment
Good problem-solving, time management, and multitasking skills
While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
